Networked computers rely on the Network Time Protocol (NTP) to synchronise their clocks and ensure they have the correct time. This is generally configured as part of the operating system by Microsoft and Apple and others, but they don’t provide their own NTP servers and instead rely on NTP servers that are provided on a “best efforts” basis by volunteers.
Here at InternetNZ we think NZ needs something better and so we provide a reliable, free and fully supported network of public NTP servers for use within NZ. We’ve put a lot of thought and investment into these servers and will continue to develop it as a service that NZ can rely on.
